Between 2000 and 2010, Centropa interviewed 1,200 elderly Jews still living 15 European countries. We never used video in those interviews; we did not focus primarily on the Holocaust. We asked our respondents to share with us their old family photographs and documents—and to tell us all about their lives through their photographs.
We digitized a total of 22,000 privately-held photographs and documents, so click on the link below and explore our online archive. We have chosen (around) 20 pictures from each country, and each of them is accompanied by the story our interviewees shared with us.
